Step 1. In Router Open Ports
We may perform this method by web or by telnet, as per our liking. We require certain start data in any case:
We require to find the router IP address (gateway) & the PC IP address where we wish to install a web server.
This is the information we require to carry on:
Our computer local IP (IP address field), that we should point out as we will later use it (192.168.1.100 in this case)
The mask subnet.
The IP gateway (field default gateway), that is the router IP address. In sample 192.168.1.1
By telnet we will describe the method, meanwhile filter management may essentially need being prepared by those means. Therefore, we will telnet to gateway IP.
Start > Run > telnet 192.168.1.1 (in this case).
In this instance the router, will just enquire for the password. Using password of router administration.
The first screen we may access, that is the router key menu management.
We will choose Setup NAT.
We choose Server Set 1 (Use for Only SUA).
And, lastly, we find the screen wherein we may open port.
The first rule is putting a computer in default, i.e. opens each port to the computer whose IP we enter in the field.
To the IP 192.168.1.81 of computer we will open ports 21 & 80. For doing this, we may enter in Start Port Number. & End Port Number. the port no which we desire to open. We put the IP of Computer in IP Address where we will mount the server (192.168.1.81 in this case).
While we depart the screen, Press Enter. The ports at this point have been left open.
Using escape key, we will be going to the foremost screen to continue with the filter configuration the part two.
Step 2. Router Filters Modification
The router includes filters to confirm your security & evade unnecessary accessing to both our network and the router itself.
By default, the router, to 23 port (telnet) blocks any Internet access, 69 (tftp), 80 (web) & 21 (ftp).
We should supersede the rule which upsets 21 ports for our server to run, the rules which modifies port (for web server) 80 or (for the ftp server)
The process is entering the matching rules & modify the characteristic to Active = No to Active = Yes. We may put the cursor & by using this space bar the options are modified. Till the filter is logged we press enter.
Hence, we will change the one which affects port 80 for the web server which affects port 21 for the ftp server or the one.
After this is complete, if our server is properly configured (& even the firewall if some) some ports scanner may see open ports 80 or 21.
